If you do, how are they? Depressed or defiant?

Bit hard to generalise. I know three. One his wife has left him, but I think she's doing him a favour to be honest, and letting him know what she was after from the start. He's looking at retraining as a Dr, so she might not have much maintenance to live on either. One is doing very well, says the cuts have improved things for him promotion wise. And the other one is taking a break from the rat race and doing what he wanted to do since he left Uni, which is go travelling.0

Funnily enough an old client rang me today and I was very interested in his take, as he is a city investment Bank employee.
He said his view onto Moorgate shows its as thronged as ever and most people he knows are pretty confident. He called me because he wants to get some buy to lets!
His general view is people need to invest to make thier money work so there is plenty of work for the city.
He went on to say all the smart people are collecting investments now at lower prices, be they properties or stocks.0 -
I know quite a few as a former member of the ranks
Ditto
I would say that things in the City are/will continue very much as normal.
The excesses of the past few years, were undertaken by only a very small proportion of those employed there, and the resultant "fruits" enjoyed by only a small minority.
The City itself and the institutions are carrying on, doing what they have for decades.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

My office looks over Moorgate as well, hmmmm...
I'd agree with his take. And my train into the City isn't that much emptier, more's the pity. Most people I know are heads down, hope it doesn't hit them personally. It's pretty depressing reading constant bad news but the industry will survive. Total headcount will be down when we come out the other side of the slump, but then the whole cycle will just start again with a different bubble.0 -
Hey Conrad, I note that you are on one of your up days :j'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0

Fatalistic and busy are the adjectives I'd choose.
And one is lay on a beach in OZZ, watch that pale skin

Only one I know was made redundant. Now struggling to find a job opportunity that will keep in the manner to which he has become accustomed. As has a large mortgage on a property in Canary Wharf.
Welcome to the real world :rolleyes:0
