Slip, slop, slap old chap!
I'm very careful. I got burned at the w/e as it goes. First time in 15 years at a guess. Maybe more.
See I warned you (a bit late
). 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

My bro works at Deutsche Bank and funnily enough everytime they were making redundancies in the past he was nervous but atm he feels complete relaxed and confident. I don't think many of his cronies have been laid off so far which might be why - normally he's a right doom-monger!0

Hey Conrad, I note that you are on one of your up days :j
You know me far to well:o
I'm uppish because my wife started a new business last week and already it's getting busy, despite the cc. We set up a calm funky treatment room at home and she's doing reflexology and beauty stuff. She wants to practice some new treatments on me:eek:0 -
i work for investment banks as an IT contractor on a self-employed basis.
there have been no the job cuts for a while.
salary reductions haven't happened for about 4 -6 months.
everyone seems happy although a little cautious.
6-8 months ago people were a bit nervous about the future but haven't seen that in anyone for a long while.
it's only the ones that were made redundant or struggling to be re-employed that maybe unhappy - that's not a dig at anyone!!
RBS and Barcap are recruiting in my current role at the moment - so things can't be that bad.0 -
work for an investment bank in the city too and morale around me is suprisingly high considering. Most people are head down get on with it. Haven't had any redundancies in a few months and not heard of any more planned. Lots of restructing and cost saving exercises.
Feel reasonably happy at the moment as I've been told my position is safe, and we're still turning a profit. You never know though, taking nothing for granted.0 -
Come on now! This wil not do. Posters on here want to hear of bankers crying in the streets0

Lots of restructing and cost saving exercises
I remember in 1992 when there was a similar 'restructuring' being undertaken throughout the City, the CEO of the Bank where I worked (head office is 1 Wall Street) had the bright idea of starting an 'Anti-Clutter' campaign to encourage everyone to use less paper etc etc.
In one week alone he managed to send out to each and every employee 16 memo's on the subject......
Some cost saving :rotfl: :rotfl:'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
I wonder where Walletwatch is...I'm sure that is who I mean.
DH says clients are negotiating more caps on law fees, and thus reaching conclusions more quickly, but with quite poor humour. The ones not setting caps are getting their own way a lot I guess
