How long is a piece of string?

I have just weighed some trouser weight linen. 60'' wide 1 3/4yrds it was 600g just under.

It will be difficult to work out without knowing the width, length and weight of the material. Interesting way of selling it though.

What prices are they selling it at, if you don't mind me asking. :)

Hmm... that's going to be pretty variable depending on the thickness and weight of the fabric. But I found this...
... 400 kilos of pure linen yarn per day at its 50000-square-metre factory in Hunan Province. ... Red House produces some 10000 yards of linen per month

400k times 30days = 12,000 kilos to make 10,000 yards in a month, or, very roughly, that would be 1 kilo per yard for a lightweight linen.

That just doesn't seem the right way to sell cloth since patterns depend on yardage, not weight, when you're cutting out. ??????

Abakhan fabrics in Merseyside and North Wales has been selling fabrics by the kilo (and previously by the lb weight) like this for years. Great place. Supposed to be slight seconds. The fabric of all types is in various lengths and priced per kilo. It's a rummage round job. Take a tape measure and if you're making curtains for example, you need to know the drop for each curtain, so you might pick it all up in one big length or several shorter pieces. I've made some beautiful curtains for a fraction of what the fabric would have cost. Great for dressmaking, craft workers and making Christmas fairy costumes etc. A real Aladins cave.
Sorry OP got carried away there. The cost obviously depends on the thickness of the linen itself as has been stated.
