must admit I am doing ok out off this credit crunch .My mortgage will be aproximately 12% off what I was paying 15 months ago . Now I know that isnt going to last ,but it helps with the overpayments ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

Apparently Dominos Pizza and video rental companies due to people having nights in rather than going out. Also I read that us women buy more lipstick and chocolate! I can also confirm that rental prices for property in my area of London have soared (thank goodness I am locked into a good contract and not looking for somewhere else to rent - can't afford to buy, can't afford to rent somewhere nicer...)
Also, I read that Aldi and Lidl may well be doing well but the other supermarkets have also seen a shift in their customer profile: people who did use Waitrose are now using Sainsburys, people who did use pricey delis are now using Waitrose and so on and so forth. It's the top/exclusive end of the food chain of food providers who really have to worry about business.
Someone also tole me the other weekend that's a baby boom on the way - all those nights in, I imagine...;)
I would ay party plan companies as well - the one I work for is up % in first 3 business months compared to last year.
Ladies are not going out socialising they are staying in and inviting friends over and also usuig party plan companies for entertainment - also the lady hosting the party gets plenty Free so that also helps.
:beer:I get paid to party!:rotfl:0 -
The courier industry is doing ok.... man with a van service is better than anything. All couriers need to do a plug now and then... PASSFIELD COURIER SERVICES for all your courier needs search on google now.
Haha... sorry but things are hard in a recession, thats why its called a recession. you got do do business in a way that suits you... GOOD LUCK!0 -
I am doing OK at the moment. My rent is the same as it was last year and doesn't look likely to go up any time soon.
The only difference now is that the people around me who are working are a lot less smug than they used to be. Ironically I now have more money left over after bills than they do.
The main increase in my expenses is food.I used to suffer from lack of motivation.... now I just can't be arsed.

.....from the range of answers submitted, it looks like any business can do well in a recession as long as its good and competitive! its the badly run, unsuccessful, and not necessary ones that are being weeded out!!£5000 debt cleared thanks to MSE advice :money:0

I worked for an alcohol bottling factory and we're doing brilliant, last year was one of our best in a long time.
People are opting to stay in and have a drink rather than go round the town.0
