I am not entirely sure that your employer will ensure your HCI computer, e.g. against theft or accidental damage. However your computer will have an extended warranty (3 years).

My Laptop IS fully insured against theft, accidental damage and fire at home or abroad all at the companies expense.
Also it came with a very impressive software bundle including MS Office, Autorute 2005, Encarta Atlas, Money, Win DVD, a host of HP prooducts and 3 years Norton Antivirus/Firewall subscription.

Remember insurance won't cover any self upgraded parts.

Also, if after the three years, you decide to give the computer back and you have self upgraded, what is the situation. Also, lets face it, after three years, chances are the computer is going to be obselete anyway.

I doubt the upgraded parts are insured, but let's face it most people who opt for this kind of scheme are not going to upgrade anything.
Most computers are obsolete after less than 3 years as techology moves so fast nowadays which makes it perfect sense to lease rather than buy.
