Tesco Home Insurance Taking The X....

Last year i caved in and purchased my first house, and got the obligatory house insurance.

At the time Tesco were doing a cracking deal for 50% off, so i did a quote, and made sure it was saved, and used within the 30 days. I did it and paid about £300 for B&C with std limits of £60k to rebuild and £30-50k contents.

The renewal came through today, who can guess the price?

£560, for the exact same policy, plus 1 years no claims.

LV are quoting me £260, along with a £40 Quidco cashback, rock on!

Now the cheeky bit, make sure if you have Tesco Home Insurance you check your prices, and if cheaper make sure you call Tesco and cancel as they have jumped on the automatic renewal, unless you tell us band wagon.

Churchill did that to me, I rang up & told them that I had a cheaper quote, & when they asked how much I just plucked a figure out of thin air & they matched it. I more than halved my premiums, if they ask who from say direct line or an independant broker.

You have to be cheeky in this day & age.

    lol.

When i called to cancel i tried the same thing.

Said the LV premium was £260, but with my cashback was £220. He just sighed and tried to sell me car insurance.

  • Most insurers include a first year discount so unless you are a new driver with no no claims it will likely increase the following year quite a bit.

You got 50% off the "first year", hence the increase at renewal. A lot of Insurers do this to hook you in. You will almost certainly find the LV policy has a similar new customer discount so you will need to shop arround at renewal
