Apple IMac forces discount??

Has anyone tried to get a discount for an IMac using their ID card???

Would be interesting to know as I fancy buying one of the new 24inch IMacs but at 1500 quid its a little steep.....stufents get a discount....US forces get a discount so I was wondering if we do

Can't see anything on the forces discount thread or after googling.

For interest I rang Apple and they give you on average 100 quid off a new Imac if you order via them. (£1499-1408 and £1799-1690)

The Apple reseller i rang (not a proper apple shop) do NOT give forces a discount.

  • I used Forces discount to buy my iMac in November - reduced the price from £949 to £891; not massive, but a saving nonetheless!
  • in google type apple student store uk , click on the first one not the sponsored link

    hope that helps

Find someone who serves in Germany, get them to order one VAT free for you. Am out in Germany now and we get everything VAT free that is sent out here.

All you need then is for them to bring it back to the UK for you.

    Simple

Further to my last, we are entitled to be part of the Apple Employment Purchase Programme.

The Apple Link works. Spoke to them on the phone and they require your MOD email for telephone orders, but not if you go via the website. Discounts are only on the computers or laptops, not the additional products. However, it still works out as a bigger saving than at the stores (or other online companies), if buying the newest products.
  • I bought my iMac while I was still serving and didn't know about the discount. I was gutted :( Good luck getting it sorted
Trying to remain free of unsecured debt and build up some savings.

Have done CeFA and CeMAP exams but no longer regulated.
  • Hi
I know this an old post but if you go to jtrs.co.uk,> E-Store>MOD they will ship to BFPO tax free on all Apple hardware.

Quick delivery and a long record of dealing with MOD, BFG Cyprus etc.
You will have to pay the tax initially but they then credit your credit card with the tax you have paid.

I know this is a long shot and probably doesn't help but... I bought my Macbook Pro out in Afghanistan on the American main base for £1100 its priced normally at £1500. Awesome deal if you ask me, so if you are due to deploy within the year id recommend waiting and taking a look out there. Thats of course if your deploying within the year and wouldn't mind a Macbook Pro.

£400 saving is fantastic if you ask me, alot of our lads snapped them up.

Sorry if its not at all helpful but its worth a shout to anybody.
Better to understand a little than to misunderstand a lot.
  • Apple gave me Military discount at their shop on all the products I purchased. The discount varies depending on what you buy. Apple class you as a Government Employee.
