have a epson stylus c46 which suddenly died , trouble is I set it to use only black and daughter has been using a lot , has plenty ink and I have 18 spares , heard about internal counter built in that ''kills'' machine after certain number of prints , found software on russian site to unlock epson,[sscserve...google] but only goes down to C50...anyone know of cheap deals on a c46...?

    apparently using the ssc utility (which you have) select epson stylus cx for the second option and it should reset the officially unsupported c46!

    AS above it can reset the counter on most Epson printers

    problem ,when trying small screen pops up saying...device not found.
    forgot to post that red light came on when machine ''died'' and is still on every time switched on , will that stop software?

    I had a problem with my Epson R300 with not taking compatibles after a while, I reset counter and it worked. I also found it need the ink pads emptied of old ink too using kitchen paper and dabbing in it the ink pads near the cartridges, there was also one at the back in a small compartment, not sure on your printer though. I have several Epsons, I normally use the Epson RX685 for printing
