The uber pessimists will always abstain too long from markets, whereas many of us realise we can't time the absolute bottom and will just ride the market gradualy up, regardless of dips and shocks on the drive.

The masters of gloom find it very hard to imagine a dawn. For them the dawn is always a long way off.

Do the words "vested interest" mean much to you?

I've gone for this same viewpoint. I have bought into stocks that I feel have good grwoth prospects ahead of them. I'm still down on the banks as I jumped in with 2 feet and tad early and naively but I'm happy to admit that I've made mistakes. I'm still slightly down on my portfolio due to Aviva and LBG but I'm confident in these stocks long term and I will use my allowance to add more shares without adding more cost by selling out a bit higher than 38p and buying back in at 38p with the cash generated. Simple strategy really.

My other stocks are doing pretty well and if I'd gone with my instincts would be better as would have got in slightly earlier with 2 stocks (1 has doubled in just over a week) and another which has increased slower. Also, watched another which I was still wondering about (though all the financials and prospects look excellent, not sure why I was dilly dallying really) and they've gone up 25% since last monday.

Theres plenty of stocks out there rising due to their fundamentals and a general better picture of the banks. Long may it continue.

No-one knows when the bottom is until a while after. We may have hit it and the sell off in Feb may well have been capitulation. Heres hoping for that anyway.

Either way, I have my long positions and now its just sit around and hopefully watch the stocks rise. The last week or so has been awesome though. A few more of those will make me very :j :j :j :j
