Hi,
Anyone been to RAF Museum - Hendon before? Would like to know if it is worth a visit with a 4 year old lad.
Thanks.

It's been many years since I went, but IMHO a 4 year old is likely to be bored. There are lots of planes to see, some on suspended displays, but there is little in the way of interactive attractions.

I've taken my kids there about 3 times and they have enjoyed it. My boys are 5 and nearly 8. They are interested in 'military stuff' anyway as their dad is ex-army so they liked it. I thought it was just ok though - lol! The good thing is that there is free parking and it is not in a busy area. I'd definately visit once just for the experience!Mortgage-free wannabe!0

Thanks for the reply. I think we will go there one weekend as admission and parking is free.0

The one at RAF Cosford is very good as well.

There's an area of interactive exhibits about flight at the back of the ground floor. There's also a couple of planes you can sit in or walk through. My son loves it there but he was probably nearly 7 when he first visited. The shop is a lot better than most museum shops with lots of decent pocket money toys.0

Agree with comments above, both Hendon and Cosford are well worth a visit.
Another place worth visiting is the Science Museum at Wroughton (Swindon). It is where they keep all the stuff they cannot exhibit in London. Wonderful aircraft; Lockheed Constellation, DH Comet, Trident plus many more. Not only aircraft, but cars buses, farm machinery etc. It is not open year round - opens for a few weekends in the summer when there are other events held on the airfield, makes a very good day out.
