Hello
I have recently obtained a laptop and wanted to get wireless internet for my home but also wireless for my laptop when out and about.
Can someone therefore tell me:
1) Best deals for wireless in the home - i currently have Virgin TV
2) Wireless on my laptop - is it a USB plug or something? apparently costs around a £10 a month but are there any you recommend as opposed to subscription?
Thanks

Wireless internet at home-do you mean internet via ADSL or cable but with a wireless router? You can bundle your Virgin cable TV with cable broadband and have a wireless router if you want. For any ADSL service you need a BT line installed.
Do you mean mobile broadband rather than wireless broadband for your laptop?
You can get a PAYG USB device (it's called a dongle) from either Vodafone or 3. Usually about £50 for the dongle, plus your data costs. All the other networks are currently subscription only, various packages are available. No free lunch, and no free laptop

i would say your best option would be to cancel the home broadband and just use the usb dongle while at home and out and about.0

That rather depends on your usage and location. Mobile bb can be expensive if you use bandwidth intensive applications. And if you can't get a decent 3G signal on your preferred network at home, forget it (find someone with a 3G mobile on the same network and invite them round to test it).No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thanks for the replies
I do know someone who uses a 3 usb for his laptop so i'll try that0 -
Mobile broadband is a lot more expensive than home broadband - consider if you really need it
the easist option for home broadband for you would be virgin - otherwise for some other company you would need to get a bt line

Are you on cable TV or just through phone line? If you are on cable then it may be worth checking out the package deals that virgin offer for Broadband, TV and phone - You should be able to wangle a wireless router out of them if oyu go that routeDon't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0
