what benefits can i get

a friend has taken redundancy today,they have a mortgage and other loans,
can they claim anythink 2 help them until they find another job?
and when can they claim jsa?
savings for 2012.. New year new me.. Going to save save save... and not spend spend spend. :rotfl:

    why have you gone ito first person

    you can claim now if you have been made redundant

    If they have 'taken redundancy' it suggests maybe they volunteered - if so then their rights to JSA are forfeited I think? Maybe somethink to consider.

    my son in law was recently made redundant. he couldnt claim a penny until the redundancy money ran out ie. if you are given 3 months money, then you cant claim for 3 months.

    you can only get help with the interest on your mortgage payments when you have been unemployed for 13 weeks. whether that would include the 13 weeks you have got money for already (and therefore cant claim anything) i dont know.

    CAB your best port of call.

    What happens if 'the friend' used the redundancy to pay off the loans first ?

    do think that you would be expected to make several months money last for several months. the same goes for any severance pay thats received.
