To corset, or not to corset?

That is the question!
I have no idea what to do!! Corsets have always been uncomfortable in my experience, but strapless bras edge their way down.....
What do you recommend!?
Thanks in advance for any help/advice

I guess it depends if your dress has boning or not.
If it is boned then you shouldn't need one, if it isn't, I personally would go for a corset (unless of course you have a fantastic toned figure?)Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. ohhh ive ben thinking this myself , my dress is not boned ( i dont think havent had my 1st fitting yet )so id like something to pull me in a bit more than my dress , would a corset push my tubby bits (lol) up tho like at my back above my dress ? my dress is the romantica of devon shania one , im a size 18 does that make a differance to having a corset ?

Well, if you need a corset made for you, I know of a very good lady. (No it's not me lol) She makes historical and modern.0

My dress is slightly boned....more "piped" i think the term is? as in it is structured but not with ridgid boning (if that makes any sense?)
I'm a size 10, but not toned!! And although I don't have huge boobies I don't want to go bra-less (they tend to head south, breastfeeding a few years ago and all that!), I need that support. Just worried about a strapless bra dragging down =oS0 -

Lol
Thanks, but I highly doubt I'd be able to afford it and I need to try bras/corsets on before I buy unfortunately

corset, as they have much better holding power than a strapless bra.. and if they have been uncomfortable then u have been wearing the wrong size,. a proper corset much be 2 inches or so smaller than your actual waist size, and make sure you goto someone who ACTUALLY know whats they doing and selling.. and be prepared to spend a decent amount of money for a decent corset.. you want one that will last and you can wear again.. alternatively to the steel boned corset , as ive mentioned before Gok Wan's range of corsetry and other under garments are top notch for any outfit!:exclamati:female:choose life, choose to save money, choose to search higher and lower, choose martin lewis and rock the F**k on!! \\mm// :female::exclamati0

I'm thinking the same, I am a size 16/18 and my problem area is my tummy and hips, I am worried that I will end up with a big roll of fat hanging out the bottom of the corset. Does this tend to happen????0

I'm a size 10 and I "roll out" of corsets at the hips =oS and they tend to dig in - the ends of the bones at the hip area, and when I sit down they tend to "bend in" to my hips.... I don't know if that's because I'm not spending enough?
(not that I've been toooo stingy - around £25 for the ones I have) 0 -

Ahhh well I've usually gone for a size bigger than usual as the ones in my actual size dig in even more into my hips and make me all hips!!
I don't understand how it all works!??!
I have looked at Gok's range, but i really want something ivory if poss (im going all "traditional" for once in my life
) Also, you know you say go 2" less than usual in the waist area? Well for me I can't see how I could as I'm tiny in inches under the bust, several inches bigger round the waist and even more so at the hips!! Which is why I went for a made to measure wedding dress, as I'm size 8 top/size 10 bottoms - awkward when it comes to dresses! 0
