Thanked 31 Times in 21 PostsSelling My House
Hello. I'm selling my house myself (well having a go first anyway).
Does any one have any useful tips for me?
I have made a website (stampdutyfree.com) and got a solicitor ready once I get a buyer.
Is there anyway of getting on to RightMove with out using an agent?
Thanks.0 -
this looks like an attempt to get hits on his site0

Totally OTT, but I have seen worse houses. 6/10 Good effort.0

Got it now - hadn't realised the OP was just running his own property on the site, rather than it being a commercial site.
In that case, recommend the OP has a look for articles on google relating to 'SEO' or 'search engine optimisation' - or possibly research the subject from the local library or bookstore - that might drive some more genuine viewers to the site, rather than just pulling in sceptics like myself from forums like these.....0 -

There is no chance anyone on here would want to buy the house - it is advertised locally, where my target market is. (I gain nothing for hits etc either). I might tone down the information though as you all seem to think it is over the top.
Is it just that the information is too flowery? I thought the more pictures and info the better?
I just thought I might get some tips on getting a decent bridging loan or something. I'll be going to different banks today to see what they have to offer.0 -
I like the fact that there's a lot of information (looking at the pictures, didn't read any blurb). I think all houses should be listed with floor plans, it makes it much much easier to visualise the house.0

I am pretty local to you, and I'm also on here. I'm not your target audience though, being an old git with big plans.
Being serious for a moment, the mistake most self advertisers make when using House Network and similar sites is that they overdo it. They put in so much detail and so many pictures the reader is left with nothing to wonder about, so there's no mystery. They feel they already know it all. Your site falls into this trap too.
Think about it. No lady worthy of the name would make herself so 'available,' so quickly! Buy all means, use your talents to lay out the info clearly, but like every good performer, leave people wanting more.0 -
I really hadn't thought of that at all. I was under the impression that more information the better - but now see exactly what you are saying. Weird that it never even entered my head...
I'm a bit lost as to what to take off the site though!0
