  • Worriedsik hunny..I sure hope it worked out for you OK am off to check your most recent posts.

I have been AWOL for mostly all the good reasons just really busy and am guilty of lurking in Facebook when online,am presently online looking for Christmas pressie bargains...cos we're pretty skint!

    UPDATE ON LILA

Well we've recently had the 6 month enquiry from AiB to make sure our situ has remained the same..sadly it has..no lottery win..no work..our lad still keeps us busy with appointments.

We still occasionally get letters from RBS and the odd few phone calls AiB explained that the bank keeps our accounts open in the event of us coming into money(like a windfall or lottery win)

We have managed fine with the bank account we use with Think Banking...I know some of you begrudge the monthly fee but for us it works well esp regarding the debit card,DD's and the online banking enables us to manage it ourselves with an account for monthly bills(funds held back each week to cover them) and our card account is for everything else.

I wont say it's been easy but it has lifted one helluva weight off our shoulders never ever will we be glamoured into credit cards and bank loans again...we swear!

I will pop back soon...honest...now I have visited again...apologies for leaving this well intended thread...erm..well hanging like a thread... it can be such

Hope this find you all well and in good spirits....money can be such a worry..not having it can enable you to truly appreciate it's worth...

    hugs
    Izzy

yes, I found this thread VERY helpful. Sending my forms off on Monday morning. Hope it goes well. Bit scared. Do they really print your name and address in the newspaper? Oh well, just need to grin and bare it.

like so many of you, I got roped hooked into taking on a big bank loan when I was earning a steady wage. i lost the job and the bank were REALLY aggressive. the whole of last year was an absolutely terrifying ordeal. for several months I was using all of my income to settle bank fines on top of the loan debits... it was really tough.

Good luck to anyone else in this situation.
  • dont worry about papers only goes in to the edinburgh gazette

  • i don't read it so i will not be bothered when my name appears :)

I am in the middle of moving my account to another account as I will have to go down the route of LILA.

I am bi-polar and my debts are now totalling £40,000

I am so ashamed and feel so very guilty. I am in receipt of benefits and have been for a very long time. I am in receipt of DLA. I was always competely honest regarding my unemployment due to medical retirement yet banks, credit card companies kept giving me money and more money and more and now here I am as I say with debts totally £40,000.

I cut up my credit cards today with my CPN - 14 of them  I am terrified about the prospect of LILA as I am sure the AIB is gonna be mad at me for what I have spent - holidays - handbags- shoes - clothes which lie in my wardrobe with tags still on them - all bought when going through manic phases :( I am TERRIFIED :(

I am losing weight, im so stressed, the kids are feeling my stress and it is making my illness worse :(

I cannot see any other option than the LILA route and I have FANTASTIC advice being given to me in relation to this.

I have asked about my car which is on HP and which I need for my mental health or I would be housebound - I am on lower rate mobility and therefore don't get a mobility car but pay for the car I do have. It is worth of £2,00 but the advice shop told me the AIB said I could keep the car as it is on HP and I have more than 3 years to pay therefore it is not an asset as I do not own it. I did not believe the advice shop and phoned the AIB and they said yes it is true we cannot touch it and so long as you keep paying your payments there is no reason the HP Company would take it back - is this true does anyone know????? I have changed the DD for the car payment over to my new account. It was hard finding a company that I do NOT owe anything to but I did manage at long last.

Now it is just a case of switching over benefits etc which I have started and necessary DD such as gas, electric etc - I have no debt in that respect nor council tax nor rent arrears. My debts are bank loan and credit cards and so far I am STILL paying the monthly payment and am in arrears with nothing. That said I am now robbing peter to pay paul and my CPN says my spending has to stop. Hence the cards being cut up.

I am still really worried about the car though as that would kill my mental health for sure :( can anyone advise me?
I discovered I always have choices and sometimes it's only a choice of attitude :j
