help! new build not being completed

Wondered if anyone could offer any advice - I moved into my new build home last April and whilst my flat is completed and I'm very happy with it, the communal areas are still uncarpeted and outside roadways a complete mess! After many, many, many letters and phone calls over the past year promising things will be finished "soon" I got back in touch with solicitors in January, and developers told them they were re-financing and work would be complted in next 3-4 weeks.
That's coming to an end now and will be getting in touch with them again, but since then we've had a new specific problem I've been trying to get hold of developers about - left messages every day last week - no answer, went down in person today and they wouldn't let me past minicom!
The only reason I can think that they're not getting back to me is is that they're going under - where do I stand if they are? Surely I paid for the site to be completed and they have to finish it?!
It's my first property and I'm so worried about losing everything....

Your contract is likely to be with a limited company.
If they go bankrupt then you have to look elsewhere for help................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0 -
Are the other purchasers also chasing? It might be worth forming a group and go mob-handed to the company to attempt to get the situation changed.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Are they still developing (building new flats/houses) on your site or has it been completed?
The reason I ask is that they will not sort out the road until ALL construction has finished (so if there is a temporary halt in construction, they will wait until that construction is resumed and finished before putting a proper road surface down). The only put down the proper road surface where my Mum lives about a year ago (the flats had been complete there since about 2004 - so it took 4 years to put the road surface down). The reason is that, if they still have any construction to do, then heavy vehicles will be in and out and would damage a proper road: so they complete ALL of that before sorting out the roads.
Doesn't help with the carpeting of the communal areas... I assume that all of the flats in your block have been completed? (i.e. they aren't still doing any internal construction or fitting to any of them?)

what do you mean by going elsewhere? will SOMEONE be responsible for completing the site?! I'll never re-sell with the site in the state it's in!
we're getting a group together and getting councillors and local MPs involved.
They told one my solicitor they were refinancing, and told another resident the bank has released the money to complete the site - not sure this is true though or whether the bank can reverse a decision like that?!
I'm so scared!!!!!!0 -
I don't have much experience in this but just want to say hope it all turns out well. You will benefit hugely from this experience. I know you can't see it now but stick with it and everything will turn out ok!0

QTpie - sorry hadn't seen your post yesterday as we posted the same time - I had thought all the work on the flats was completed but it turns out they haven't been (many of the flats are still empty) - have no idea whats happening with that though?
And thanks Mitchellst3ve - I've just hoped against all the odds that it wouldn't turn out to be the worst case scenario but it seems it will be. It's just so horrible when it's your first place in particular - I've put all my savings into it, and the deposit came from an inhertitance from a close family member which I'm very likely to lose most of if I sell - I just don't know how these people sleep at night.0
