would you plan your wedding any differently?
Flicking through the financial pages at the weekend, and reading the financial interview, one of the questions was - "do you play the lottery". The guy answering said he didn't and didn't think a big jackpot would change much anyway, he would take a holiday and give most to charity. That got me thinking, gosh I would love to win the jackpot, as we could pay off our debts in a oner and buy a place, plus make some investments for the future. However, it occurred to me that I probably wouldn't change any of my wedding plans. My wedding isn't the cheapest but we do have a strict budget and are having to think creatively about most things .. here's what I'd do if I won the jackpot...
Venue, dress, DJ etc would all be the same, might double the budget for shoes and underwear though!
I'd pay for everyone's rooms at the place we are marrying, and for family the night before
get more alcohol and drinks in
pay some professionals to do the things we will be doing - ie flowers on the day, my bouquet, favours etc.
extend my honeymoon from 10 days to two weeks, and schedule more eating out!
I guess what I'm saying is that I might spend a little more money, but on the same things as before - I don't feel like I've gone without anything on my wedding (I don't see things like vintage cars, loads of attendants, petals on the tables, going away outfits, chocolate fountains etc as essential to getting married)
What would you guys do?

I had my plans for my Euro Millions win
:rotfl:
For me (like yourself) I would only change a few things such as a longer honeymoon and a different venue. I would love to get married in a castle or stately home setting instead of the local registry office.
And maybe hair extentions for me

I'd invite all extended family we can't currently afford to invite. This would increase guests to about 200 or more, so we'd need a bigger venue! some country house would do. I'd have a free bar, and hire entertainers etc. for the kids.
Would prob stick with the same dress tho (£250 from monsoon) cos i love it!If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing, you're right - Henry Ford0 -
I don't think I would - I'd probably go to a really good hairdresser (I'm going to the local college on the day), and I'd be able to pay for my bridesmaid's dress, which would be nice, but we both really like the registry office and the pub we're having the reception in (an old building, so we can have photos taken outside), the guest list is already everyone we'd want to invite anyway, and my dress (very reasonably priced luckily) is exactly what I wanted! Some of my friends are helping out with some of the things for the day, eg. flowers, cake, photos, and I think that's going to make the day seem a lot more personal for us! I can't wait!!!!!!£160 in £2 coins saved so far!
Wedding went off ok (phew!), saving up for autumn holiday and house move now!0
