Someone I know, who is currently living with their parents and not currently employed, has just been offered a job where it would mean that they would need to rent a house or flat near the place of work. However, as they don't have a current landlord/lady and have only previously stayed in student halls of residence, I think they are likely to have problems. Can anyone offer any advice?

Was there a warden or tutor at the HOR? They could give a reference if needed.
Don't let them pay silly fees to LA. Ring the local council and ask for a list of recommended LA in the area0 -
