No Messenger/Yes Messenger

in Techie Stuff
The title says something.
After installing XP from scratch, uninstalled an old version of Messenger to install a newer version.
When try to install from Windows Live Messenger is saying that I have it installed.
Searched my PC but no results?:confused::confused:
Any sugestions?

    I'll have to come back to this one again.
    There is any other messenger(software) i can use to video chat with my family who use Windows Messenger??

    Did you properly uninstall Messenger after the install.I had to do that and had to go through Control Panel/Add&Remove programs/Windows Components.

    After that I installed MSN Version 8.5 for my other half and she didn't like the 2009 version.

    BTW, what's new in the 2009 version of MSN (I know my other half didn't like it) but I didn't get to see what the changes were.

    If you're on XP I'd install real-alternative and quicktime-alternative so much less bloat with same functionality.
