Good Dog Groomer in Antrim/Newtownabbey Area

Options
Hi all

Anyone know of a good dog groomer in this area? I took my dog to a groomer in Ballyclare but apparently they can only deal with dogs that sit still and don't move  which my dog certainly does not!

I only need a small bit of her neck shaved as we got a new fence that goes round our garden and a collar that gives her a small shock if she tries to cross it but the fur around her neck is too thick! Found one guy willing to do it then he heard what it was for and went mental at me on the phone saying he trying to get legislation passed to ban these kind of collars but I assure you the shock is not that bad as I tried it on myself. Makes you jump but won't hurt my little pooch!

Anyway if you can recommend any I would be very grateful

Try Antrim Groomers - we take our dog there and the man that runs it is very good with the dogs :)

Another vote for Antrim Groomers, they are fantastic and do a great job. Wouldn't take my dog anywhere else:D

Anyone know of an East Belfast good groomer while we're on this subject?
  • you can get a pair of basic hair clipers you'd use on yourself in Argos for about £15 and do it yourself. (If the family have a pair you could always use them but don't think it would go down too well I'd imagine)
I can't imagine we're dealing with a show dog here and honestly it isn't hard to do yourself, just do it in stages.

I do slightly agree with the groomers stace on these things. you say you tried it yourself. attach the collar to your arm and place your hand on the concrete or lawn outside and then let it shock you. I'd imagine you'l notice a difference. Slightly different than when your wearing shoes or standing on a carpet which will insulate you.

I spoke to a guy who has one and he said his dog only got shocked about 5 times before he learnt to stay away from it! My garden is far too large to fence- it would cost thousands and it's not fair to keep her chained up all day. I think some people would rather I left her to her own devices and let her killed on a road which would happen as we live on an awful road which has an average of 2 people killed on it per year and I would rather she gets a shock now and then than comes back to us dead
  • I get your point boopydoo. The less of two evils so to speak.
  • I take my pooch to Apex Dogs (also does cats). My dog doesn't sit still for the lady but she is excellent. Would highly recommend.

    we use Groomingology 94433088.
the man who is called Tom who does the grooming.
it is on the antrim road going out from sandyknowes to templepatrick.
tom is lovely and the dogs love him.
he is always fairly booked up and doesnt have to advertise which is a good sign.
