    Any suggestions for absolute essentials?
Beer and hookers, don't suppose they're in the basket. :D

I noticed they've not included any beer but have included cider which is clearly not the most drunk drink in the country.

Surely, if alcohol is included (and should be) it should be based on the drinks that are purchased the most which I would think would be lager and probably white wine (though not sure could be red).

Instead, we seem to have cider and rose wine

Any suggestions for absolute essentials? Bread is an obvious choice.

White, brown, malted, sliced, organic, rye, value, taste the difference?
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

I think that's to reflect the number of people who will be living on park benches soon.

Cider and rose wine are just the ones that have been affected by changes in the 2009 basket. The basket does include bottled and draught beer and lager and red and white wine.
