Family Fund (info please)

Options
Hello everyone,

We have applied to the Fmily Fund a few years ago and were lucky to receive some help. I have been looking at their website in order to reapply and we thought we may ask for some help towards a family holiday. On their website it says that if you agree to "spend" your grant through Thomas Cook you can get an enhanced holiday grant. If you wish to use it with another tour operator or for outings you will only get a standard holiday grant.

I wondered what the difference was between a standard holiday grant and an enhanced holiday grant?

We had a bad experience with Thomas Cook a few yeas ago and I swore i would never give them my custom ever again. I am absolutely loathed to do go to them. However If there is a significant difference between a standard grant and an enhanced grant then i would swallow my pride for the benefit of DS getting a decent holiday.

Can anyone give me an idea what the difference is please?

Ta.

  • They did offer us the Thomas Cook vouchers the last time but it was not the sort of holiday we had in mind so we asked just for the cash!
I guess that they get a special deal with certain holiday companies so you would get a larger grant although you would be restricted to using it with them and might then not be able to access any special offers or reductions?
    How much the difference is?
I should have asked but didn't. Given that the grant amount is never enough to pay outright for the whole holiday I would say unless you really want to go with Thomas Cook you could easily find a cheaper holiday independently.
