Estate agent gone into liquidation

Hi there. I was wondering if someone could advise. We were in the process of selling our house with Beaumont Residential, and as part of our fee with them, their conveyancing people were dealing with all the legal stuff to do with the sale. Incidentally, our buyers are also selling their house through Beaumont's. Last Thursday we were informed that they had gone into liquidation - eek. Basically, they gave us our file and returned the £50 cheque we gave them to kick off the sale, and they told us we'd have to source our own solicitor now.
What I want to know now is: do we still have to pay Beaumont's or their liquidators even though they haven't fulfilled their side of the deal? Yes they brought us and our buyer together, but they haven't see it through to completion. If we do still have to pay them, then we'll be deducting the cost of appointing a separate solicitor as that was part of the deal.
If anyone can give me any advice on this I'd be really grateful. Thanks, Deb.

who are the solicitors on this? Are they an inhouse dept or a separate firm?0

I think the liquidators will be invoicing you for any work/time spent on working for you AFAIKmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
They were in-house. Apparently, the conveyancing side of the business was still making money, but as they were all under one roof when the estate agents went under they took the conveyancers with them.0
