Motor Home subject to HP agreement with a previous owner

I've since spoken to Trading Standards about how to go about getting this debt removed (without actually paying it off of course!).
They have advised us to write to the finance co, the company which showed the HPI outstanding when we checked for ourselves and also the dealer who sold us the van to ask them.
So the plan is to do that & see what response we get.
Just thought I'd add that in case anyone else was ever in the same position.:D0
