Cala Galdana/Cala n Bosch or Costa Blanca?

Hi, Wondered if somone could give me some advice. Me, my partner, our 2 year old son and my partners parents are going to rent a villa for our holidays, but not sure where to go. Thinking of going late May/June purely because BMI seem to have some cheap flights and the villas are cheaper.
1st choice. Never been to Menorca and Ive heard that Cala Galdana and Cala n Bosch is nice, but not sure which? Dont want somewhere realy quiet nor anywhere tacky and realy packed out. Will be spending most of our time on the beach and eating out. Heard Galdana has a nice beach, but is it realy hilly? My son doesnt like going in the pushchair, and even though he can walk a long way, i dont want loads of steps.
2nd choice. Costa Blanca. Also cheap flights and i hear it is nice and i presume the weather will be warmer at the end of May. Resort ideas?
To give you an idea of where i like/dislike. Been to Palma Nova three times and love it there. Nice beach, bars, a couple of playgrounds, friendly people.
Did not like Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria. Thought it was tacky, got hassled by people selling things and nothing for kids.
Sorry for the long post. Any ideas are gratefull

Hi
Just noticed your question.
We've been to Menorca quite a few times and its a fantastic place especially for children.
Cala Galdana is lovely but quite quiet. The beach is very sandy and flat and the water is shallow and calm. Its perfect for young children. It is a hilly place though so bear that in mind.
Cala n' Bosch is nice too but less quiet. Its much bigger so it also depends where you stay how close to things you are. We stayed in a hotel directly opposite the marina so was ideal. Its in a horseshoe shape and is full of bars and restaurants. There is no shortage of places to eat. The beach isn't as good though. Its quite small and when we where there the sea was very rough. Around the corner from our hotel was a small water park too.
I've never been to Costa Blanca so can't give advice there.
Basically, you can't really go wrong in Menorca, its very clean and you don't get a lot of same sex groups going (stag parties etc) so isn't as rowdy as magaluf, san antonio for example.

EDIT: Just remembered we have been to Costa Blanca last October! lol
We stayed in Albir which is north of Benidorm. We didn't do very much so can't give you a great lot of info but our hotel was fantastic. It was about a 10 min walk to the beach which is a mix of pebbles and sand. Unfortunately on our first day at the beach our eldest got stung by a jellyfish so we never went back! The weather was ok, typical for October. Lots of shops and supermarket. We didn't eat out though as we went AI so not sure about restaurants. The 'prom' along the coast was all new and looked lovely and you could walk for miles.

Try costa calida, some great deals into San javier airport and the beaches are less crowded and the water in the Mar Menor bay is not as deep as most places ( and no waves) so great to paddle and with it being shallow will be warmer. There are plenty of great apartments that are available and some great open road ways."Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain."

Thanks for that. Im really torn where to go. Cala Galdana sounds beautiful with a lovely beach, but is it realy hilly everywhere? I hear there is a little train to take you round? Anymore ideas will be grateful0

I will look into Costa Calida. Thanks0

Around the beach area its nice and flat but I think most of the accomodation is uphill.
We've also stayed in a resort called Cala Santandria. It was 20 years ago though so unsure what its like now but back then was lovely. Its/was a quiet place and has a lovely little beach/cove, the water is perfectly clear and very calm.
Your best bet is to look at accomodation first for the whole of Menorca and then make a a shortlist of the ones that are in resorts that are suitable.
This website gives you good info about the various resorts: http://www.islas.co.uk/menorca.htm
Another place we have stayed is Santo Tomas. Its quiet but the beach is long and flat and the water nice and calm.

We stayed at Binibeca - south east coast, handy for Mahon, the airport is only 15 minutes away. Small beach and a village with a few restaurants.
Cala Galdana is lovely, but it's at the bottom of a steep hill. Self contained resort with great beach and a few restaurants.
A quick drive round Cala n Bosch was enough to put us off - it's about as far away from the airport as you can get too.0 -
it's such a small island.
Surely being far from the airport is no problem.0 -
menorca is fab for young families. We have stayed at Cala n'Forcat, Cala n' porter and Binibeca. Visited Cala Galdana and the beach is lovely but didn't see much else. Cala n'Forcat is prob the most commercialised but all for young families - bouncy castles/trampolines I think there is a small waterpark. I would highly recommend we stayed at the Binimar - accom ok but was very busy (mind this is a good few years back).
We had a villa at Porter and Binibeca (not much at Binibeca).0 -

I agree about Cala n' Forcat, It is tailor made for young kids. More chance of getting knocked down with a buggy than a motor. It was the most relaxing holiday we had in years.Mind you that was a few years back as well.0 -
cala LLonga, Ibiza is a small village, plenty of places to eat, fantastic bay beach which is great for kids. Top of beach is shaded with a play ground on the sand for the kids. we have been going for 11 years now" I would not change you for the world, but I would change the world for you"
