Sainsburys nectar card points

I recently had one of those vouchers where if you spent 80 you got 1,600 points. So i spent the amount and gave them the voucher.
About 6 weeks later checked my balance and i had 22,000 + points thought it a bit odd but didnt think to much of it, but collected my vouchers from the customer service desk.
When my statement from nectar came through i noticed they had put through 16,000 bonus points
thought thats weird hadnt collected that many.
Its not until about 3 days later i got a letter from sainsburys telling me that the bonus points had been added on wrongly obviously an extra nought, but on this occasion i could keep the points and that they hoped i enjoyed spending them this christmas ;D
Well done sainsburys for doing the decent thing, as they could have asked for them back but they had the festive spirit and let us have them so i know have £130 to spend on food this christmas ;D i was only expecting about £55 from what i had saved up ;D

I work for Sainsbury's and it might well have cost Sainsbury's nothing.
The Nectar scheme is run by Loyalty Management UK Limited, not Sainsbury's. I don't work in any area related to money, but I think I am right to say that any vouchers used in shops such as Sainsbury's, Argos, Debenhams etc are eventually sent to Loyalty Management UK.
This is where the companies get their money back for the use of vouchers in stores.
I am not sure who is responsible for processing the points which led to the error.
But I think that in the end Sainsbury's doesn't lose money. They might actually gain very slightly as you'll use them to buy items you wouldn't have bought and they can include them (all be it a tiny difference) in their sales figures.0 -
ooo thanks for that info bounceback. The thing is they would of got my business anyway do my shopping in sainsburys mostly. so it has just saved me a hell of a lot of money. ;D my shopping bill will come to zilch hopefully ;D
I just hope it happens next year ;D
My cousin who works at sainsburys herself said to me that i probably wont get sent some extra vouchers for a while now like the spend £60 get a 1000 points etc but will just have to wait and see0
