The Post Office is just a brand they put on it to get you to buy it, they pass you to BISL who are a broker / intermediary. Have a look on the Certificate again near where it has the signature and post up here what the name of the insurance company it says there

well i have plenty of letters from the job centre regarding the benifits and bank statements etc

Do you have any assets at all?
TV? bicycle? car? motorbike? jewelry? watch? cds? anything at all you can sell?

If you really do have nothing, then nobody can get the money from you, so in some ways you have nothing immediate to worry about.

Longer term if there is a court judgement against you and it's unpaid then that will be reorded on your credit record and it will affect you for some time to come in getting credit cards, loans, mortgage etc.
Also the bill could rise as the balliffs and agency add their fees.

If you expect to get a job, then it might be worth getting a family loan to prevent the long term consequences.
If you expect to be penniless for a while then no-one can do anything to get the money from you, if you have nothing.

I'm not sure what stuff baliffs take e.g. whether they take fridges, washing machines etc. so again that might be another area you want to investigate.

You are better off selling stuff ig you can, because getting the balliffs to take it is expensive as they will add fees to your bill along the way, so you need to really look at what you have and what can be sold.
I've sold second hand dvds on ebay before. Individually they won't fetch much, but if you have many tens of dvds then it all adds up.
If you had an expensive sports car then it's hard to believe you had no cds, watch, sports equipement etc. uinless you've sold it all already.
