Going abroad outside EU what is the best card to use for withdrawing money and general shopping, also I prefer to use debit card rather than a credit card. i have no credit cards just 1 debit card (barclays). I have read about Nationwide/Post office they seem to be the leading contenders.

I applied for a Tesco Travel Money card, after apply i recieved an email saying i would recieve the card in 7 days. 19 days passed and i still had not received the card, i rang them up because i only had 3 weeks left before i was due to travel. I was told that the company processing the cards had had a problem with their computer system and there was a delay with processing and sending the card. This concerned me because i was wondering what sort of a systems problem did they have, considering they have all my debit card details and personal info. I am also concerned that Tesco did not have the common courtesy to email me/customers to inform them of the delay. I was apologised to by customer services who said that i would receive my card with in the next week. That week has now passed and i have just got off the phone to Tesco and have had to cancel the Travel money card. I've asked them to refund me the initial fee i paid to open the card. It will be interesting to see how long it will take them to do that. I now have to find another Travel money card issuer before i travel in 2 weeks. What a waste of customer time.
