My mum-55 recently had to give up her job-well she is classed as self employed eventho she is a foster carer for the local council, but they dont get any esp, ssp etc.
She had cancer a few years ago and has never been healthy since, altho continued to work but is now exhausted and takes one virus after another. She has paid voluntary ni contributions as fostering wasn't a taxable income etc.
She hasnt been to the dr or anything and doesn't want to hassle them, but is their anything she can claim? She has no savings, lives with me and my parner, no dependants.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I would suggest the first place she goes is to the doctors for a sick note
Even the self employed are entitled to iC, I think its called ESA now.
