Proving income when applying for CC?

Options
Hi all

I'm looking for a new 0% card. I've noticed that hsbc ask for a payslip when applying for their card. Is this a new trend? I'm self employed so would want to apply for a card where this question is not asked.

I'm looking at first direct or virgin. I've been with them both before.

Any thoughts on this?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

It's standard practice for HSBC to ask for salary confirmation. You'll also find they are well know for their low credit limits regardless of credit worthiness. There lending criteria seems to be a lot more stringent than others. That's not a bad thing in some cases as they can't be accused of getting people into debt.
The most worrying / annoying thing about HSBC though is their shambolic customer service and the amount of time they take to process card applications. Two months is not uncommon !!!

M&S are currently giving 6 months 0% and NO BT fee. Not sure who the card issuer is, but maybe worth a try.

The card issuer for M&S is HSBC funnily enough.
