It usually tells on the roll whether to use the readymade stuff or not.
But, you are not alone in this, this happens to loads of people, and it could be a number of reasons, not letting the paper soak for equal amount of time, or letting the paper soak too long, or overstretching the paper when your butting it against the next one or removing the length, and re-hanging it again, or could be krap paper.
What is the paper?, is it a vinyl paper?, any chance of showing a pic, if I can see the paper, I might be able to offer you some advice, you can PM me with the pic if you prefer.:D
BTW, it wasnt laura trashley paper was it?0 -

Hi
Had a similar problem ourselves with wallpaper on the chimney breast. Ours was from the 'arthouse' range, costing about £15 per roll. Looked perfect when we had finished - got up next day and every join was now visible.
Makes you want to scream.
We took a piece of the wallpaper to B+Q where they scanned it with the paint maker machine and we purchased a small pot of the matching emulsion paint. Luckily our paper had a very strong background colour. We used this paint to over paint all the joins - used a childs paintbrush and wiped off the excess immediately. Didn't expect to get such a good result but must say it now looks great.
Hope this helps0
