partner being made reduntant

hello i was looking for some help or advice, my partner who after working as a hairdresser for a number of years was looking for a change of career so around 5 years ago returned to college, after 2 years of hard work gained her advanced hnc in childcare she was lucky in landing a temp job straight away and after a short while got a fulltime job in another nursery, this was a good job that she enjoyed but after a while she went for a job in a university nursery which was ideal as it was full time and also term time therefor allowing her to be home during school holidays and able to look after our son while he was on holiday, this nursery is now closing down and she will no longer have a job, i realise this is not uncommon in all work places but what i find unfair is that this nursery was under review for closure when she attended her interview but she was not notified of this ,had she been she would not have left her old job, she has a meeting this week to discuss redundancy but as far as she is aware she has to get little if anything as employment there is less than 2 years ,just wondering if anyone has been in a similar position or has any advice. cheers
