Where can i buy Orzo (pasta?)
Comments
-
Hi
I'm looking to buy some of this type of food, i think it's pasta? (grain/pulse?) I occasionally have an orzo and sundried tomato salad thing at lunchtime but at £3 a time it's bit much to have too often, but it must cost M&S all of 10p to make so i thought i'd try it but i can't find it anywhere?
Help? I don't want to order online or anything. Can i not buy it at a supermarket?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
It's just the Italian name for barley, so buy pearl barley... which is really cheap :rolleyes:0

I always buy mine when I am in Greece and bring it back home!!!
Have run out now though so will also be looking for somewhere. Dont' know where you are based but there is a place in Cardiff called 'Wally's Deli' who also sell online - haven't used them yet but may be worth a try?0 -
My local Asda has it in the middle eastern food section. I keepp meaning to get some.0

Ive wondered what it is as well when I have seen it and wonder what you do with it!
Ive seen it in small boxes, iM sure in the London sainsburys, near the risotto rice, I think its taste the difference.... im sure..... Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

I got some Orzo pasta from Tesco in the pasta section.
I think it's called orzo because it's shaped like barley but it's actually pasta.
Edit: just nipped out to the kitchen, my orzo is made by Mitsides Quality Pasta from Cyprus, it's made with 100% durum wheat.

Orzo is the Italian word for barley. BUT is also the word used for the small rice shaped wheat pasta. There was a chef on t.v. recently using this.
Some waitrose do stock it.0 -
If you live near a B&M store (where the defunct Woolworths used to be) I noticed in two stores that had Orzo in (Hinckley, Leics and Bulwell, Nott'm). It was priced at 49p for a 400g packet. At first, I was slightly sceptical about going in and finding any decent bargains, but I was wrong when there were lots of branded goods that were near their sell-by-dates - Amoy oriental sauces, Hellman's Mayo, organic jarred beans, pate, Lucozade cans etc., I came out and bought quite a few bits. It's well worth trying...:j0
