Eh? Other than sounding extremely insulting, what is the point of this post?

I think he/she is referring to having a legitimate debt and trying to get it wiped out on a technicality.

While I don't agree with the way it was put, I do agree with the sentiment. If you have a debt and can pay it, you should pay it, not look for legal loopholes to get out of it.

I think many people would agree. But I don't think that many people go around calling people "scum".

Shellpod, I would echo what the others have said - be alert when dealing with these types of companies.

TBH if there was any problems with your agreements, you could probably spot it yourself, or with another member's help for nothing.

Thanks Sol00, I have a feeling they may not work for me anyway, i may just stick to using CCCS, and grin and bear it for another 3 years. Thanks for your advice xx

Hi just wondering if anyone has heard of a company called UKML Ltd or similiar. Basically my friend has substantial debt, as do I. She contacted the above company and they told her they may be able to get some of her debts written off, if not all of them.

She had to have card or loan taken out before 2007 and they charged her £50.00 to check if she was eligible (that is £50.00 per card/loan). If she was not eligible, the £50.00 would be refunded. They contacted her again a week or two later and said that she was able to get them written off and it would cost her £300.00 per card/loan. She has paid the full amount for a card and a loan and has had a letter from this company stating that the card & loan had been written off, totally £5000 on a card and £8000 loan. She heard nothing from the card/loan company for the last three months.

Anyway getting to the point, just wondering if anyone knows more about this form of clearing debts or any info would be appreciated, as i am thinking of trying it.

I am currently with CCCS( who have been outstanding i might add), paying 900 a month, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks all for any help/advice given.

as far as i know checking if your eligible for a debt management plan with ukml is free (i know as that's what i do...) dependant upon the circumstances with each client depends on how much debt they could wipe out.. as for the £50.00 charge for each debt checked, there would only be a £50.00 admin fee if the client was looking to claim back payment protection insurance on cards or loans...

as for the debts being written off i feel it may have been the interest on the cards and loan

to be honest i'd say sticking with cccs is the best option they're quite reasonable,
  • I was recommended UKML by a friend.
I, along with a few friends and family members contacted UKML to see if our credit cards were un enforceable. We were all told that it was and paid the full amount of £295.
Recently, a court case went on about questioning these companies, such as UKML and how they could continue to help customers write of such debts.
While this was going on, which i think, it still is, UKML wrote to everyone and told them that they are not continuing to deal with the accounts/cases until further notice.
At this point, it put alot of us in difficult situation, as we stopped paying the credit card companies when the case was taken on, hence leaving alot of us in massive arrears.
We have tried, on numerous occasions, to get hold of UKML, but they are not getting back to us and conveniently, their emails do not work either.
SO THIS IS A HUGE WARNING NOT GO NEAR THEM!

    Absolutely DO NOT TOUCH UKML;
I had a similar experience, basically I paid £200 to UKML to check if my four credit cards could be rendered unenforcible.
UKML contacted me to tell me that they could be and asked for a further £1,180 which I paid.
I contacted them several times and was told that they were waiting for a high court ruling in Manchester, which was made at the beginning of this year (2010).
Fundamentally the ruling stated that companies like UKML had been misleading people.
I then heard absolutely nothing from them until I got a phone call from them offering debt management services; for a fee of course.
Once I read the high court ruling it became apparent that UKML and other similar companies could NOT get credit cards made unenforcible (certainly not on the basis that they were claiming), so I woye to UKML asking for a refund (which is waht they promised at the outset) I waited for about a month anf got no response from them.
So I contacted them again and spoke to Brian Horsburgh who said that he would have a look at my file and get back to me.
That was three weeks ago, I have since called them several times only to be told that Mr Horsburgh was in meetings.
I think that anyone who has had dealings with this company should seriously consider taking legal action against them for the recovery of any monies paid as the advice given by UKML was totally misleading to say the least.
Given their behaviour I can only assume that they are nothing but a bunch of sharks and crooks.

AVOID UKML....!! DO NOT TOUCH UKML....!!

I've just read a few posts regarding a company called UKML. Please DO NOT TOUCH THEM..!! They will take your money and run, they owe me over £800, and owe 3 of my close friends over £200..!! And after numerous emails, telephone calls, and letters wrote to them, they refuse to refund me for money i paid them to write off my Credit Cards and debts.

I've spoke to various people at UKML, including a guy called Aaron, who was the guy that has ripped me off in the first place. After numerous telephones calls to this guy called Aaron, i was told that i would need to speak to his boss called Brian Horsburgh.

I got to speak to Mr Horsburgh once, and after a conversation with him regarding getting my money back, he took my works mobile number and said that he would call me back the following day after he looked into my files.

Guess What?? Yep, no phone call, and for months now i can't even get through to him as i'm also told he's in meetings! Probably ripping off more innocent people like myself!

This has gone on for over 9 months now, and i've just contacted my solicitor to send them a letter, as i intend to take legal proceedings against them to get my money back!

Also another thing that pi*sed me off, is that i got a phone call from some other guy at UKML recently trying to offer me a DEBT MANAGEMENT PLAN..??!!! Obviously they DO still have my number..!!

AVOID AT ALL COST!! AND THANK YOU MR BRIAN HORSBURGH (UKML)FOR ROBBING MY MONEY..!!!
