Getting my debts written off by UKML?????

Hi just wondering if anyone has heard of a company called UKML Ltd or similiar. Basically my friend has substantial debt, as do I. She contacted the above company and they told her they may be able to get some of her debts written off, if not all of them.

She had to have card or loan taken out before 2007 and they charged her £50.00 to check if she was eligible (that is £50.00 per card/loan). If she was not eligible, the £50.00 would be refunded. They contacted her again a week or two later and said that she was able to get them written off and it would cost her £300.00 per card/loan. She has paid the full amount for a card and a loan and has had a letter from this company stating that the card & loan had been written off, totally £5000 on a card and £8000 loan. She heard nothing from the card/loan company for the last three months.

Anyway getting to the point, just wondering if anyone knows more about this form of clearing debts or any info would be appreciated, as i am thinking of trying it.

I am currently with CCCS( who have been outstanding i might add), paying 900 a month, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks all for any help/advice given.

    Hi there

I would be aware of these companies.......

There are some........but few that offer free services but I would not pay anything upfront etc, best to shop around and get plenty of advice before deciding where to take this, good luck.;)

Hi, my friend said that £50.00 she sent for one card, was sent back cos they couldn't get it written off as she only got the card in early 2008.

I know it sounds awful, as i do trust her, just haven't got 300 to be throwing away if it turns sour further down the line. I'm going to trawl the net later to see if anything rears its ugly head about it x Thanks

Do you mean beware of these companies?

    Good advice if you do.

I would take with a huge pinch of salt any letter from one of these companies saying that a loan had been written off unless it had been confirmed by the lender!
It could be that this is now in the hands of a debt recovery team somewhere who will be in touch.
If I'm wrong get your friend to post the details on here.

Eh? Other than sounding extremely insulting, what is the point of this post?
