Experience with Nationwide Contents Insurance?

Just wondered if anyone had any experience dealing with Nationwide contents insurance?

My step son sat on my laptop by accident and now all it will do is boot upand switch itself off. Just wondered if this kind of thing wold be covere and how easy it would be dealing with Nationwide?

The Policy is underwritten by Churchill who are part of the same group as Direct Line who are both owned by the mighty RBS.

The policy appears to include Accidental Damage to Home Computers which I would assume Lap tops would come under so it is probably covered (Assuming the damage happened at your home).

Give them a call (They will be open on a Sunday)

The laptop was on the couch and it appears a cushion fell on it, and my stepson just st down not realising it was there.

They will probably try to repair it, if this is not possible they will ask their approved supplier to contact you to arrange a replacement lap top

We had the same problem when our pc "fell" downstairs and they took it for repair no probs.
Never had any problems with the nationwide easy to deal with etc
Spending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.

It never ceases to amaze me how many computers and televisions fall down stairs

We used to use nationwide for our home insurance. I became somewhat disillusioned with them and now use Halifax which has excellent cover and is very good value.
  • Hi,

We had a similar incident with our laptop. My Stepdaughter put the thing down on the floor, stood up and promptly stood on it!!!!!
Our contents insurerers took it away to assess it, decided it was unrepairable and replaced it! We do have AD on our contents policy.( My step children are so clumsy its not true) Im just shopping around for some new insurance and it would seem that alot of the policys have Laptops included as standard these days.
I should dig out the policy and give them a call.
