Lidl seeds & other brands

I've been growing plants from seed for years now, and must say that Lidl's 29p seeds are very good. I've often had better results from theirs than I have from expensive packets. You often get different Euro varieties too.

They are the best of the budget brands IMO!

Wilkinsons seeds are poor - I would advise against them. I only get Thompson & Morgan when there's a free offer in the paper and I can honestly say that Lidl are better!

We're growing for the first time so not to knowledgeable yet however we've got some money maker tomatoes growing from seed from lidl and they seem to be doing fine
  • I agree that Lidl seeds are excellent. I always seem to get better germination from them than the more expensive suppliers.

I do like Lidl seeds! Often the varieties are unusual, and I have seen the same seed varieties from Italian seed merchants for ten times the price, However, I wouldn't necessarily discount Wilkinsons seeds, I have never had a bad packet of them, quite a few people I know use them year in, year out. What makes you dislike them, joolzred?

When I've bought them over the past 5 years or so I've invariably had pretty poor results, poor germination especially. The worst was 2 summers ago when only one seed from 16+ courgettes germinated!

Perhaps I've just had bad luck - or they just don't like me equally!
