Laminate covering for kitchen cupboard doors

I was watching an old episode of House Doctor last night. The kitchen had vibrant orange cupboard doors which were hideous. She had some cream laminate sticky back plastic stuff that they just cut to size and stuck on the doors. It did look much better once she had finished.
I was just wondering if anyone has used this stuff and is it hardwearing? I've got a toddler who's at the crashing into things stage, so I need something that is tough and isn't going to crack or peel off.

Here I go again on my own....

I don't know where you buy it from - I've seen fablon but it won't be wide enough from a DIY store..
I did it years ago on our kitchen using the vinyl they use to wrap vehicles in - mine was specifically American Airlines silver left over from an advertising campaign on London taxis! It looked really good - we had it on for at least a year before we moved out.
It is pretty hardwearing as that sort of thing needs to be when braving the elements for several years (in many cases) It won't crack at all but when you wrap it you need to wrap it round the back of the door rather than trim it to fit the front as it could potentially peel.
It won't be a long term solution and you'd have to be careful about accidentally scraping it as it won't be able to cope with that. It's a bit like tough shrink wrap - incredibly strong until you properly attack it. That said, if you have any leftover spare you just wrap that part again - that's what they'd do with a vehicle if it had an accident!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
