Hello all
I am a discharged bankrupt (discharged in 2005) and I am thinking about applying for a new bank account that will allow an overdraft facility should I need to use it. Im currently with the Halifax, but their accounts seem a little rubbish! Im at a loss, anyone reccommend an account? Or is it still too early to apply for one? I've been able to get a credit card since.
Thanks

If you are able to get a full current account, with an overdraft facility, then Halifax have one of the best current accounts there are. Also, as they know more about how you manage your money, you've probably got a higher chance of being accepted with them.0

There is no harm in asking0

Yes you can ask, personally, the fact that you have been bankrupt will be on your credit files, and this will work against you until it drops off (6 years).
You might be successful with some banks and not with others depending on their current lending criteria.0 -
If you want an account without an overdraft the basic account from Barclays (Cash Account) comes with a Visa debit card and accepts discharged bankrupts0
