Kitchen - thinking of getting slightly cheaper cupboards with granite worktops

I did phone DIY kitchens today with a few questions.
They were very helpful. Unfortunately I am rather a long way from Wakefield but they said they could deliver to me no problem.
So do you think Magnet Trade will come down in price then? It is the same building as the retial but a less plush entrance and no real showroom. He said the retail would be more expensive than the trade but yours seems to be cheaper! I have 3 wall cupboards (500 mm) , 1 sink unit, 1 set of pan drawers, 1 500mm drawers, 3x 500mm cupbaords, 2x corner cupboards, 1 integrated firdge unit, 1 integrated double oven unit and 1 500mm larder unit,0 -
should also add that I am off to Wickes tomorrow, so hoping for a good price that I can use to haggle with!0

I think mine is cheaper - it's certainly a comparable size! At the time the quote was 1 x integrated fridge tower, 2 x integrated oven towers, 2x larder units, 5x top boxes (wall units that make the tower units even taller), 4 x 1m pan drawers, 1 x wine rack, 1 x 800mm pan drawers, 2 x 400mm cupboards.
Have you looked at changing some of those 500mm cupboards for 1000mm?
Anyway, quote from Howdens was 2040 so I'm going with that because I can't justify the fact that despite being a great price for magnet it's still twice the price of Howdens - I don't think it's twice as good. I don't have the quote here from Howdens but I know they are doing the tower units for just 200 quid each - no fancy wire pull outs etc in them.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

That is a very good price that you got. Did it involve a lot of haggling? I haven't tried Howdens yet... Thought I would see how Wickes are tomorrow.0

Not really although we're putting a bit of business their way at the moment so I'm hoping that's a genuinely good price we're being offered!
It's worth getting several quotes at least you know who is trying! Go and have a look at the cream gloss Cooke & Lewis kitchen in B&Q - I was pretty impressed with it (go to one of their refurbished stores where they will have a full sized kitchen display matching it with aubergine) - their prices are right up at the moment (false sale at Christmas) but they do a price match and knock 10% off - Wickes and Howdens will provide a decent match for them so it's an easy way to get more off.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Good tip. Was going to do something similar in Focus, simply because there is one down the road and it is more of a trek to Homebase/B&Q.
The price for Wickes is a bit confused as she gave me the full price with appliances. Then worked out the new sale price, which starts later this week. However it was just a total and not individual items... Arghh, will now have to phone her for a cupbaords only price for...
But it could be better than the Magnet price as far as I can see. Plus I get the curved units on the end of the peninuslar and the drawline cupbaords, which Magnet don't do. The only difference will be I think I will go for the white Inverness range, as not so keen on the cream range.
I thinnk I will give Howdens a go next. LOL0 -
Hi there, Magnet units would be fine. They don't offer any special units depending on what worktop you have, they are all good. Being a minimum of 18mm they are plenty strong enough.
I have good trade relations with magnet, so if you have any plans or something I would be more than happy to put them through my account manager and see what price he will offer them to me! I suspect it will get close to your target. Worth a try?
