Concert Tickets Handling Fees

Not sure if I have posted this in the right section?

I have just brought 3 tickets to see Lionel Richie at the Birmingham LG Arena
The tickets were £55 each plus a £5.50 handling fee for each ticket. I read up on this and they say it is to pay for credit card fees, phone calls, postage etc. I can remember years ago it was £1.50 per booking not per ticket. The tickets for these concerts are expensive enough without having to pay this extra charge. The irony of it is I then had to pay for them to post tickets to me on top of that price. Why did I have to pay 3 times for credit card handling when it was one booking? Is this legal for them to do this?

Yes it is. It does say if you go to the venue or any of the ticket agencies and pay cash you don't have to pay this fee but its finding a tickets agency near to where you live?

I booked through ticket factory which apparently is the official site for the LG Arena, but ticketmaster and see tickets all charge this fee.

Shame, I don't have a contact with them: sorry! Could try e-mailing their customer service linking them to this thread and asking for a fuller explanation of the three charges? They may not be too keen on the publicity.

    I totally agree!!

I bought tickets over the phone from ticketmaster to take my son to see McFly in May 09 and there was a booking charge of around a fiver per ticket, plus postage of £3.50.... which you also had to pay if you picked them up from the venue!

It doesn't seem right that they take booking fee for each person and not just for the booking but looks like not a lot we can do about it

yeah, I just bought U2 tickets. The cheapest ones cause I'm on a budget so for two tickets it was £60.00 BUT then you have to add the fees and the shipping and the whole thing came out to £72.75. £ 12.75 difference...for what...to print a ticket and send tickets either first or second class. VERY ANNOYING
