Is it me or are some buyers thick......
lately i either get people complaining that delivery was slow...like i run the royal mail..i send everything next day by min 1st class or special delivery (and never agin RM standard parcels...more like RM slow parcels)....someone complained that postage stamps can to 1.04 when i charged 1.80.....er clue is in the answer postage and PACKING (and other costs)...yes that means, stamps, packing, bubble wrap, pens, petrol, parking fees, my time, tape, electric, computer costs, listing fees, paypal fees...oh actually in that case its 1.80 its 2.80...muppet!
As people dont like paying paypal costs this has to be found where! Some people must think you are doing it for free
As for non payers/bogus bidders...put them all on an island and bomb them...no you are not funny...you costs people time and money....if a i found you you computer would be a 1 million piece jigsaw...i have had 40% bogus bidders in the last 2 weeks...i mean they must be such sad individuals that they actually spend valuable time making bogus bids.......
cant wait for the day when they have to pay it....or face jail...if you think thats harsh...id like to see them do the same thing at a proper auction!

GO ROYAL STEVE!!

I agree with you bud! Royal mail is slow! I get a lot of muppets and non payers!
If the postage is a bit high I always look to see how much I would pay for the item and whether it is worth it! £1.80 isn't bad at all! I have seen people charge £4.99 for a strappy top!! As long as you explain what the extra 40p was for ::) then I can't see how they can argue! ....must be a newbie!!
NPB Do my head as well! but hopefully they should be wiped out as they only have 3 strikes!!

WHERE ARE ALL THE BUYERS
I amazes me that these threads are filled with complaints by sellers, yet it seems to me that there are many more sellers out there on EBay trying to scam the buyers with fake goods or in some cases, they don't even have the goods. Personally I think EBay have a lot to answer for as their system is riddled with loopholes and there is no real safeguard for buyers."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -
there is no real safeguard for buyers.
don't forget about us sellers! We can't really do anything if a seller doesn't pay! I wish I could FORCE the b*****s to pay me! >:(0 -

Did you mean if the buyer doesn't pay !!
If a buyer doesn't pay, they are struck off I presume, but sellers just get a neg. feedback ! There is more protection for sellers."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -
Buyers are allowed 3 non-payment strikes before they get struck off. And they only get non-payment strikes if the seller actually reports them. Some sellers are afraid of doing this in case they get negged by the buyer. If a buyer doesn't pay, they are struck off I presume, but sellers just get a neg. feedback ! There is more protection for sellers.
A negative comment stays on your record forever and can do damage to your selling ability. However if a buyer gets struck off, they can simply set up another account with ease - nice clean start.
I don't think that the EBay system is weighted in favour of either side.0 -
Is it me or are some buyers thick......
LOTS of buyers are thick, in my experience.
...postage and PACKING (and other costs)...yes that means, stamps, packing, bubble wrap, pens, petrol, parking fees, my time, tape, electric, computer costs, listing fees, paypal fees...
I believe that all these costs except packing materials and postage costs should be included in the item price and that charging extra in the P&P is "fee avoidance". Retailers don't charge overheads via their carrier bags, they're factored into the price of the item.
...people dont like paying paypal costs...
It's been "illegal" to charge for PayPal since 6th June. Sellers who charge lose their Seller Protection - but many sellers who offer PayPal don't get themselves verified, so buyers are not protected from their sharp practices. I agree that the fees are stiff, but offering PayPal does, IMO, encourage bidders. It encourages me, for sure!
NPBs...cant wait for the day when they have to pay it....or face jail...if you think thats harsh...id like to see them do the same thing at a proper auction!
Not harsh at all, I heartily support you!
eBay is a minefield because it is not "policed" effectively by eBay admin. They've created loads of loopholes to escape through when things go wrong, eg, "We're only a marketplace". It's not as if their profit margin is tight!
I've just discovered that if one is claiming on the grounds of false (fraudulent) description of a piece of jewellery, eBay insist on a valuation, the cost of which is not recoverable because any refund cannot exceed the selling price. That's eBay's "standard protection" for you!

my hubby would agree with you on this one royalsteve what you put in your post is exactly what my hubby says all the time he gets things "like postage a bit slow...." they forget that cheques usually take time to clear also buyers usually want goods before they have even paid for them. >:( >:( >:( the cheek of it0

i dunno how people can complain about the postage costs. What are sellers expected to do? take it down to the post office before putting the auction up to get the exact cost?
Whenever i'm selling i can only guestimate how much it's going to cost.0 -
Try the royalmail website.
Plop the item on some cooking scales or bathroom scales and calculate the postage on the web.
For every excuse there's a solution ;D0 -
I use a kitchen scale and always weigh my stuff (including packaging) before posting. I then just round the weight up to the next postage band to cover myself and then check the Royal Mail website for postage costs.
I've not been wrong yet and I always make money on P&P costs, not very much mind, around 10-15%.
Estimating can be hit and miss, especially with heavier items. I have 1 item on at the moment which weighs 1.5kg, the postage cost (£5.50 1st Class) seems very high given that the item could sell for less than £10. So I've had to put a note on the auction specifying the weight to explain why the postage looks high. I'm sure if I didn't then people will moan.
Another chap is selling exactly the same item as me, but his postage is only £3.00. I'm assuming he's estimated this because there's just no way you can post it that cheaply!0
