My old doctor would have written a reference - but there was only a couple of docs there.
You left college/school long? Know a vicar/in the scouts/guides/saturday job/?
Seriously - go and ask your neighbours if you can't find anyone else. Be proactive and ask them if they can help you with a reference.0 -
I have the same problem for jobs - nobody knows me, nobody's known me long enough ... and the one person who would qualify is uncontactable over the telephone or at short notice.... and with all this referencing for jobs going on, I don't want to annoy my references by getting them to produce 10 a week or more.
In fact I am not applying for a lot of jobs just because I don't want my referees bothere AGAIN.
I hope you find a referee - I know it's a nightmare because we don't all fit into these neat slots silly procedures expect.0 -
Get a photocopy of the referees letter and then you can when asked give a reference.0

What about an old school friend who may have a job now they would consider reponsible enough to write a reference! Any of them went on to become police, bankers, nurses etc?!!
It may be something you need to address and think about for future times as already mentioned. I overcame this problem in the past by doing voluntary work, and building contacts up that way, as often there were professional people involved in charities.
