Charity been donated euros

Options
Hi,

Our charity has been donated a small amount of euros (60), does anyone know where we can get it converted into £s. All the links I have seen seem to only deal in large amounts.

Thanks

Gerald

    Notes or coins?

I would be tempted to 'sell' them to someone going to the Eurozone some time soon. Keep a paper trail, sign receipts etc. I don't think you are in danger of being accused of money laundering for such a small amount ...

  • Two notes, one 50 euro and one 10 euro, we've never had anyone donate foriegn currency before so we're a bit dark as what to do.

Well, notes you can usually change back to sterling, but you'd probably be charged commission - for commission-free you usually have to do it at the place you got it from and show your receipt, AFAIK.

It's possible your bank would let you pay them in, but they'd almost certainly charge, possibly an arm and a leg.

Which is why I'd ask around and see if anyone wants some commission free euros! The exchange rate is dire atm, so holding on might be worthwhile!

No the exchange rate is very good at the moment when coverting this way round. It is when going in the other direction (from pounds to euros) that it is bad.

M&S is just about as good as anything. You should get around £55 at the current rate.

  • M&S is the best so far I think
  • If i could add an extra question - what can we do with Euro coins? Now have 30 euros in change in our shop, nowhere changes coins do they? It's frustrating :(
