Ceiling tiles and back boilers

Options
I have been looking at the details for a bungalow I like but have found that every ceiling has polystyrene(sp) tiles stuck on.

The bungalow also has a monstrosity of a brick (floor to ceiling, plus wall to wall) fireplace which takes up a hell of a lot of wallspace and floor space. There is also a gas fire/back boiler in place.

Im guessing that all this work will cost quite a bit to remedy and dont know if I have the wherewithal or energy to want to tackle this.

My question is what would the likely cost of this work be and do you think that the brick fireplace could be removed successfully or even reduced.

The bungalow in my opinion is overpriced at 150,000 how much would peeps offer in view of above work. I think the bungalows were built in the late 70s

Check out this thread... there's some replies regarding the bricks surrounding back boilers and how to go about finding out if they can be removed.

probably looking at least 1000 quid to remove the old fireplace and chimney.
then you will need at least 1500 quid to replace the boiler with a new combi.
removing all the tiles and replastering will cost another 1000/2000 quid.
so say allow a budget of 5k?

maybe a lot more if you live in say london.
    Get some gorm.
