Mira Shower Overheating

I have a Mira Sport shower and this afternoon I turned it on, it worked fine, but when pressed the stop button it made a loud noise as if the water was boiling in the shower unit, or there was a build up of pressure. The overheat light came on but then it all went quiet. This has happened before but it has always worked fine later. I have just tried to start the shower again and it just runs cold with the overheat button illuminated.
Anyone got any ideas of what the problem could be? Or am I looking at getting a plumber to fit a new one? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
