Help finding card to make own invitations.

Options
So me and FH have been engaged since christmas but are planning to have a very long engagement (read +2yrs at least) In order to keep on top of everything I'm starting a box of ideas and making prototypes of things that I intend to diy.

Invitations are one of the things that we're planning to make as we started off with completely different ideas! Although have worked together to find something that we can both agree on in principle, its hard to imagine as we have to make it ourselves first!

So this brings me to my question, for those of you who made or are making your invitations where did you get your supplies from? Ideally I'm looking for square card as we are going to attempt some sort of folded invitation. I have found something ideal but not sure if I'm willing to spend £6 for ten invitations when I know that there'll be more cost as they're not right yet.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

We got ours from Viking stationery (I think). Remeber to use a cashback site as well if you're buying them over the internet.
Maybe you could send for one off samples from companies, and then work out how to make your own from your favourites that arrive.

If you wanted to buy square card blanks you can get them from loads of places but I have these and whilst not the poshest card you can buy they are great for the price.

If you scroll down you will find the square ones in white and cream at £3.99 for 50

Alternatively the paper mill shop sells sheets of card by the box

Local printers will have card, see if they will cut it to size for you.

Hobby craft, I am sure I saw some last time I was in there.

May be a local art shop would have card and again cut them to size / shape you want.

Good luck and have a good day when it finally arrives.

Edit:- I have just come across this but it is about making cards in general, and not maybe what you actually want.

I've just bought alot of things from there - including these cards, are they quick on delivery and how is the quality of the goods??

btw - if you want inserts too - for 100 inserts they were around £4.50 which I thought was very good value

    Thankyou all for your suggestions!

I realised that I should have shown what I had seen. I went into my local art shop and they were selling these http://www.paperstate.co.uk/group.php?id=44, but we want to have a sort of double layer thing to make a pocket in the middle to hold directions and the like, so these would be too expensive to buy aproximately 300 of two colours!

Obviously I'll have a look through all the links as I'm sure that they'll prove very useful!

I didn't get mine from them but the quality is fine - I haven't ordered from them but am sure they've been used by people on the card making and scrapbooking thread without any problems - sorry I can't help.

most of their stuff is branded names like papermania and create and craft and they also have a £1 shop which is worth a look.

I got mne from the Paper Mill Shop. I used A6 sized card and cut different colours slightly smaller to layer. But I have managed to get enough card and paper (white/pink/orange) for 150 invites (including directions, RSVP cards, menus and local accomodation) for £10. Thats quite a bit of card - they have such a huge range that you're likely to get what you want

    Hi

I just bought a box of 100 a6 cream cards and envelopes room WH Smith, they were half price, £4.49 so well worth a look!

Then bought some pics of roses on photographic paper, textured card to mount them on and inserts for inside the cards.

All in it has cost me £23!

    Good luck with the search!
