what would happen if i lost my card...

my missus lost my debit card the other day and when i checked online there was approx £300 unaccounted for from my account, luckily it turned out to be my car insurance automatically renewing itself and we found the card behind the sofa - just after we had cancelled it! But it did get me thinking, what would have happened if someone had actually found my card and used it, would i get my money back? im with barclays and have aADDITIONS-PERS OD(NO PRT)

    How?

The person would need to know the address your card is registered at for starters to order online or by mail order.

If they were using your card in a shop or ATM they would need to know your PIN.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)

I'm not sure that's necessarily true of foreign transactions, but given that the cardholder's name is printed on the front of the card, determining their home address is not beyond the realms of possibility. But for online/mail/phone transactions, you wouldn't normally be liable for any losses.

You are covered for some types of fraud, but would probably not be covered at all, for example, if Chip & PIN technology was used to read the card and the fraudster was able to enter the correct PIN.
