Nation Grid Electronic Token Meter gone MAD
Options
By a series of accidents I have ended up with a pre payment meter. This is the smart card type that you have to top up at PayPoint then recharge the meter.
What started out as a “alleged” debt of about £600 has suddenly jumped to around £1500. Atlantic Gas (or whoever they belong to now) go suddenly mute when contacted by phone.
Has anybody had a similar experience or know of a way to fix this? Thanks

if you have a problem with the prepayment meter as you describe it is the responsibility of your gas supplier to deal with it via their metering dept and contractors beit it national grid, onstream or an a nother company and it is the gas supplier to whom you should be talkingI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

I mean that they stop giving straight answers on the phone. The same sort of thing that politicians do on breakfast radio interviews. Ask a simple question and you get a statement about a related subject.0

Thanks - I do understand that National Grid is only the meter supplier. As I understand it, they supply the gas but I have to pay someone else for it. In this case Atlantic Gas and Electric. But why should the amount owed TREBLE on the meter apparently overnight?0

Have you had a normal meter replaced with a prepayment meter due to non payment of a debt?
How long have you had the prepayment meter for? When was the £600 figure at?Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -
Is it possible they did not ask for a meter reading before they booked the exchange then after the Engineer sent back the removal read it was a lot higher? My company BG always get a read to bill you to and add what is used between the day the job is booked and then installed a few days later to the meter.
Was it fitted by force when you could have Warrant charges ?
If this is not correct then write to them requesting a breakdown of charges.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0
