mesh computer

Good morning

I was wondering if anybody could help us, my son has a mesh computer which is out of warranty, just over a year ago the internal power supply blew, this was repaired under warranty but last night it blew the fuse on the plug again and is not working at all. Fuse has been changed.

My question really is I dont think it is worth sending back to Mesh as the cost of sending it back to them is quite a lot ,at my place of work a friend builds his own computers, is the repair we need something that is easily repaired and would we able to get the parts and how much would the part be .

Hope someone can help us.

Thanks Sak46

  • Get your friend to look at it, he may look at it free of charge.

Dependant on what he finds will depend on the cost of the fix. I do not recall seeing anywhere that Mesh use special parts so any new parts should be widely available.

I know this sounds vague but it could be anything from a fuse to whatever??

Easy to repair. A PSU replacement takes 5-10mins.

If the PC is not a power PC (big grpahics card, overclocked etc) then a good brand low rated PSU should be fine.

Lots of places over the internet can supply PSU's. Or you m8 at work could get you one even cheaper if he/she has a trade account somewhere.

If its the power unit that has blown and this hasn't caused anything else inside to break then a new Power Supply won't be too much: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=16568254359&action=UFNQcm9kdWN0U2VhcmNoUmVzdWx0cw==&subcat_uid=1584&order=ASC&order_col=sell_price&show=stock It is very easy to fit as well, basically four screws taken out and a few wires unplugged to remove the old one, then the reverse to fit the new one. :)

The only trouble you might have is (and I had this before when someone asked me to replace the same component) the power supply in the case will be specially designed for the Mesh computer case and the standard power supply like I linked to above won't fit, so you might have to buy a new case and get all the components in the Mesh case moved over from the old case to the new case. This can take a while depending on how "packed in" the components are.

    Hope this helps :)

Dont go for the cheapest though, or u'll be in the same boat in 5-10months time.

£30 quid should get you a good sturdy longer lasting PSU.

The chepest are built to die basically
